How can I De-activate a family?

Modified on Fri, 2 Sep, 2022 at 12:12 AM

GeniusOne® allows you to temporarily deactivate a family or an individual student. You can deactivate them for an indefinite period of time.

While a parent/guardian is inactive, you will not be able to perform any actions or operations on them like sending them broadcasts or chatting with them. You will still be able to view their chat history in read-only mode.

Inactive students will also have their timeslots removed from their profiles. The timeslots would need to be re-assigned to them when they have been activated again. You will still be able to view their attendance and inventory history.

Inactive Families would not have the ability to add Students or Parents/Guardians. You will be able to view data of existing students and parents/guardians attached to the family. The data cannot be edited unless the family is activated again.

To deactivate a family just press the toggle button next to the Family Name from Green to Red. You will be presented with a pop-up window confirming the deactivation and other important information. Once confirmed, the family and all associated Students and Parents/Guardians will be deactivated.

Individual Students can also be deactivated using the toggle button next to their names under the Students and Parents/Guardians list respectively.

Student List:  Main Menu >> People >> Students

Individual Parents/Guardians cannot be made inactive. Additional Parents/Guardians can be deleted, however, any Parent/Guardian marked as Primary cannot be deleted as GeniusOne requires at least one Parent/Guardian to be associated with a Family.

Remember: You can activate a Family or a Student again by going to the Inactive list in their respective sections and toggling the button back to Green. This will move them back to the Active list and Active Status. Click here for more information on viewing inactive lists.

Timeslots would need to be re-assigned to students that are re-activated. Their old timeslots will no longer be attached to them as they are removed when a student becomes inactive.
